Amman, August 1 (Petra) - Riyadh Abu Zayda - The Publishers Association has begun preparations for the 20th Amman International Book Fair, which will be held at the end of next September, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and the Greater Amman Municipality.
The president of the union and director of the exhibition, Jaber Abu Fares, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) today, Sunday, that the exhibition session will be within the general framework of celebrating the centenary of the founding of the Jordanian state, and an important station for inspiring the bright history of Jordan, and looking forward to achieve further progress and prosperity in the centenary. the second.
He added, that the cultural program and activities accompanying the exhibition will be in line with the national plan to celebrate this occasion, in accordance with the health requirements that are generally required by circumstances and approved by the concerned authorities. Due to the Corona pandemic, revealing that the late Jordanian poet Mustafa Wahbi Al-Tal "Arar" was chosen as the cultural exhibition personality through the exhibition committee.
Abu Fares praised the efforts and cooperation of the Ministry of Culture in order to hold this session and the previous ones in terms of providing the appropriate environment for the completion of any activity, and within the traditions, standards and basic principles of the partnership between the ministry and civil society bodies concerned with cultural activities, overcoming all difficulties, and logistical matters that ensure the proper organization of the exhibition. And in supporting the publishing sector in Jordan to enable it to continue to play its role that supports the Ministry’s efforts in spreading knowledge.
Regarding this year's session, which will be held on September 23, Abu Fares said that registration has been opened for participation in front of local, Arab and international publishing houses since the beginning of last June.
He pointed out that the initial numbers of the registration process indicate a high demand for participation in the exhibition, which is considered one of the most important Arab exhibitions present; Due to the stability of the place and time of the exhibition, which did not disappear for five years except last year due to the Corona pandemic.
Abu Fares stressed the importance of the exhibition in the local and Arab cultural scene, and its role in promoting cultural exchange between Jordan and brotherly and friendly countries, which constitutes an opportunity to exchange expertise, experiences and knowledge.
He pointed out that the Amman exhibition has been distinguished over the past years by bringing various titles in the fields of science and knowledge for all ages, and holding book signing parties with the participation of a number of local and Arab writers and novelists, in addition to daily programs and events, intellectual seminars, and story readings for children, calling on national institutions to interact.
