Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman Meets with the President and Members of the Jordanian Publishers Union Media Office The Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Kingdom, Sheikh Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Ajeeli, met today, Thursday, with the President of the Jordanian Publishers Union and Director of the Amman International Book Fair, Jaber Abu Faris, along with members of the Union's administrative board. The meeting discussed Oman’s participation in the 24th edition of the fair, scheduled for September this year. At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Al-Ajeeli emphasized the deep fraternal relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Jordan, expressing his happiness that his country was selected to participate in the activities of the Amman International Book Fair 2025. He stated that this selection is a true embodiment of the deeply rooted cultural ties between the two countries, describing their relationship as "exemplary"—one that extends beyond political and economic dimensions to include the cultural sphere in particular, which serves as a vital bridge for the exchange of ideas and the promotion of mutual understanding between the two brotherly peoples. Ambassador Al-Ajeeli stressed that Oman’s participation in the 24th edition of the Amman International Book Fair this year contributes to strengthening the cultural partnership between institutions in both countries and offers visitors to the fair a rich and integrated Omani cultural experience that reflects the intellectual and creative diversity of the Sultanate. He emphasized the importance of working toward tangible and fruitful outcomes that help develop and enhance bilateral relations in the cultural field through the exchange of expertise, showcasing diverse publications, and organizing events that promote mutual cultural dialogue. The ambassador noted that the Amman International Book Fair represents a unique platform for fostering dialogue among Arab cultures and deepening connections among publishers and intellectuals. He expressed his hope that his country's participation will be an additional step toward cementing these bonds. For his part, Abu Faris spoke about the efforts of the Jordanian Publishers Union in organizing the Amman International Book Fair since 1996, and how the fair has evolved into the most important annual cultural event, held under the patronage of His Majesty the King and enjoying broad participation from both local and Arab publishing houses. He also highlighted the Guest of Honor program, which began by hosting the State of Palestine and was later followed by other Arab countries such as the UAE, Tunisia, Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar, and Algeria—stressing the role of this program in strengthening ties of friendship between brotherly nations and relevant publishing institutions. Abu Faris also discussed the presence of Jordanian publishers in both the Arab Publishers Association and the International Publishers Association, as well as Jordan’s participation in the Muscat International Book Fair, which is held annually. He noted that around 45 Jordanian publishing houses participate each year, with a wide variety of titles and publications. The meeting was attended by members of the Union’s administrative board: Mohammad Abu Sheikha, Sameer Alawneh, and Jaafar Al-Aqili.
